PRAYER OF LIFE
The Prayer of Life is a simple prayer that you can say out loud after acknowledging the sin in your life and understanding your need to build a relationship with Jesus Christ. When prayed with sincerity and truth, you will receive salvation and Jesus will come into your heart.
The bible says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life." --John
3:16
The bible also says, "But what does it say? “The word is near
you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we
preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in
your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For
with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth
confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes
on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction
between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call
upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” --
Romans 10:8-13
I want you to have the gift of everlasting life. You will receive it, by
praying this simple prayer out loud in sincerity:
Father, forgive me for the sin in my life. I repent now, and I want you
to come into my heart. I believe that Jesus Christ, your only Son, was
crucified for my sins. I believe that he died for me so that I would be
forgiven, and so that I could receive the promise of everlasting life. I
accept him as my Lord and Savior. Teach me your ways and show me your path
beginning today."
WHAT NEXT?
Now that you've given your life to the Lord I want to
encourage you to follow the next few steps:
1. Purchase or borrow a bible. I strongly recommend the New King
James Version.
2. Read the book of John. The book of John gives you excellent
insight into the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. In particular, pay close
attention to the words in red that Jesus spoke. Reading the word of God will
be the most important part of your new found salvation. Try to spend at
least 10 minutes a day reading.
3. Spend time with the Lord every day. In addition to reading your
word, begin to find some quiet time and ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate
the Word for you. Begin to pray and speak to the Lord concerning your life
and the matters of your heart. I would highly recommend keeping a journal to
write down your thoughts and prayers.
4. Find others who believe in Jesus Christ that you can spend time with. In my walk with the Lord, there was one person in my life who already knew Jesus, so this helped me a great deal. I would also recommend finding a church where the Word of God is preached. Hanging out with others who love Jesus will also strengthen you and assist you with staying in the faith. Support from other believers can have a positive impact on your new life.
