ABOUT THERESA

Prophetess Theresa H. Johnson is an advocate for Jesus Christ, standing up for the ministry of immersion through Matthew 28:18-20 at every opportunity. She is a poet and author who desire to bring believers into the reality of Jesus Christ. She is also a teacher, mentor and spiritual mother to those who are serious about serving the Lord with their lives and giftings.

At this stage in her life, Theresa has embarked upon a journey of transparency and faithfulness, seeking to do whatever the Lord requires to not only please him but to experience His glory as part of her daily life. She promised the Lord that she would hold nothing back in pursuit of him, and stands faithfully on the promise of Philippians 1:6 concerning her life, purpose and destiny.

Theresa began memorizing and reciting poetry in first grade after her teacher introduced her to the mastery of Langston Hughes. The first poem she learned was “A Negro Speaks of Rivers.” By the time she was in third grade, she was writing poetry, singing and sharing those songs and writings at recess with her classmates as an audience, and by request from her teachers. Later, she was introduced to the tales of Nancy Drew. It was here that she developed a heart for investigative news reporting, a passion that would later launch a highly successful career in journalism. Everywhere Theresa went, she carried a notebook named Heart. In it, she recorded the struggles of her youth and the hope for the future. By the time she had graduated from High School, she’d served in many literary capacities and had won several state writing awards and regional trophies for poetry.

In 1995, she graduated from Fort Valley State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations. By that time, she was already working as a staff writer at a daily newspaper in South Georgia, and had served in internships with two of Georgia’s largest newspapers. Theresa's experience in the newsroom was that of an expert. At the age of 26, she could run a small press with her eyes closed -- working in every department from desktop publishing and design to prepress. By 1998, Theresa had won awards for best series in investigative reporting and other news writing awards and recognitions from the Associated Press, the Georgia Association of Educators, and the Georgia Press Association. She also became a member of the Society of Professional Journalists and The Public Relations Society of America.

Her career took her into federal and state court rooms, to crime scenes in Georgia towns and into the homes of everyday people. In cooperation with a fellow reporter, Theresa helped develop the first black history supplement in Laurens County, Georgia. Over the course of the next few years, Theresa’s career spanned from working as a director and communications officer within the Boys and Girls Club to serving in executive communications positions at the Governor’s Office for Children & Youth and the Information Technology Department of Georgia Tech. In these positions, Theresa created, designed and wrote for multiple magazines and publications, coordinated press conferences and corporate events, managed board of directors, and worked on some top projects in these agencies that are still seen state-wide today. In addition, she broke into the freelance arena where she wrote for several Atlanta based weekly newspapers, magazines and national magazines including Charisma.

In the midst of Theresa’s career, the Lord captured her heart. Her love for writing was ignited by a Kingdom agenda, and in 2000, she founded what is now called Voices of Christ Literary Ministries International, a Georgia non-profit corporation. Today, with support from literary ministers across the nation, the Lord has used VOC to bring clarity to the ministry of prophetic writing in the hearts of hundreds of scribes globally.  Through Voices of Christ, prophetic writers find and take hold of their scribal destiny in the Kingdom. In addition, she has authored a series of unique books that bring great insight, wisdom and revelation to the present day move of the prophetic scribe. The books include: The Scribal Anointing; The Scribal Anointing Companion; Spiritually Critiquing, Scribal Purpose, Literary Evangelism, and Scribal Warfare. In addition, she is also the author of a collection of poetry entitled, “Thank God for Salvation,” where she published her signature piece, I Know My Name Is Theresa.

Theresa was trained in her five-fold ministry calling by the guidance of Holy Spirit through Harvest International Intercessors Network, where she was licensed and ordained as a prophet in 2003. She received her training through the School of the Prophets curriculum from the Christian International Ministries Network in Florida. Today, she flows powerfully in the prophetic and under an apostolic anointing where the Lord focuses her attention on tearing down altars that exalt themselves above the Word with a specific emphasis on entertainment, compromise, comparison and competition in the worship arts. She has also earned a ministry credential through KU School of Ministry and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in theology.
